Dinner in Manhattan Beach

Looking for a place in the Southbay to have dinner with friends. Not too expensive (entrees under 25.00) - nice atmosphere - NOT Asian or Mexican and not too loud. Any ideas?

I know Houston's is a chain, but the MB location has a fabulous atmosphere and the famous spinach artichoke dip. Great place to have conversation with friends. Way better than Rock'N Fish in my opinion and cheaper too.

iirc houston's does not take reservations.
on a weekend night you could end up waiting for a table close to an hour.

Petros for a nicer place. Rock'N Fish or Back Home in Lahaina for something more casual.

We take friends to Chef Melba's on Hermosa Ave. in Hermosa. Seafood focus. Union Cattle has a lovely patio with outdoor fires. Only had happy hour there so not sure about the food.

petros costs more than the op wanted to pay. i agree, though, that the food quality is there.

I like Ragin Cajun in Hermosa Beach on Pier Ave.

Jackson Village Bistro is lovely. Corkage is quite reasonable too.

Rock N Fish is noisy and crowded, Jackson Village Bistro is neither. Depends on what kind of mood you're looking for...

respectfully disagree with the jascksons recommendation if good food is the primary criteria.
last time i was there the food was completely forgettable.
a week later, none of the people in my party had any remembrance of what they ate/good or bad.
it is not bad food, it is just meh food imho.
i will say, that the place is extremely pleasant though.

hmm, maybe it depends on what you order? I was just there 2 weeks ago and was quite satisfied with the food quality - although it is standard American bistro fare. For the South Bay, it is a good choice - although I do not go there unless I am in the SB.

Fritto Misto is fun, very reasonable and very good. Entrees are more like $10-$12 pp. Might be on the louder side though.

If you are in the mood for seafood...Rock'N Fish is really good. Most of the entrees are under $25 except for the Surf N Turf and Steaks.

Ditto on Rock N Fish. But definitely get the fish, the steak dishes aren't very good. (I like Fritto Misto but the atmosphere isn't as nice as Rock N Fish and they don't take reservations.)
