I had the opportunity to hit the Bourbon Trail a couple weekends ago. We went to Buffalo Trace, which was not my favorite bourbon, but I picked up a bottle of Rain vodka which they also make there. I opened it today and was mightily disappointed. If you like your vodka with strong overtones of buttered popcorn, this is the stuff for you. Otherwise, steer clear.

Rain is apparently forced on bars if they want any part of the Thomas Handy line of whiskeys (Stagg, Sazerac, etc.). I've never tried it, but knowing that they strong arm places into buying it doesn't speak highly of the product. Although this practice is probably more abundant than I realized.
