The latest issue of Consumer Reports rated supermarkets. Waldbaums came in dead last out of 59 rated. Not surprising. In the past 15 years, it has gone from one of the better chains on Long Island to the worst. Especially the produce -- if it doesn't have a peel or a thick skin for longer shelf life, they only way they'll carry it (if at all) is pre-wrapped. Fish always looks grey and dried out (or mushy, in the case of salmon). Seems they just don't care any more. I have one 1/4 mile from my house but I only go there for emergency food runs.

Not just the food (meat dept horrendous) but I always have to carefully check my receipt, there is ALWAYS a discrepancy in price on sale items, in their favor of course. My husband gets annoyed because my first stop there is always the courtesy counter, to get my money back. Lots of times it's $5 or $10. They're closest to me, so I still go, but I don't trust them at all.
