Ventura Lunch Ideas

I'm going to be spending time at the Ventura Courthouse on Victoria Avenue next week. Can anyone recommend lunch options that are close by? A good sushi place would be most welcome, but I'm certainly open to anything so long as it is close and service is reasonably fast.

  1. One of my favorite places is the Habit, take out/eat in. Great food, great service. They have burgers, salads and such. Don't eat red meat but, the S.O. loves the burgers. I love the BBQ chicken salad with a side scoop of avocado. Also like the Ahi tuna burger a la BBQ. Great onion rings too! There's several locations in the area
If you have time and you like strawberries, I emplore you to take a short drive S on the 101 and get yourself some berries. Exit Central in Camarillo. On the N/E side of the freeway exit is a strawberry stand. They represent the pickers in the adjacent field and always have that mornings pick for sale. A flat will run you 20$ 1/2 flat is 13$. They have other nifty fruits, veges and fresh flowers. Their berries however, are very special. If you're coming from the east or any area nearby, SR126 is the drive to make. It runs from the 5 at Magic Mountain straight into Ventura (through Santa Paula and Fillmore). Francisco's berry stand which is closest to the 5 freeway on SR126 is the least expensive at 9.95 for 1/2 flat (6 baskets). They're the bomb!

Have no idea if it's near the courthouse, but about a year ago had a really nice lunch at Tutti's Off Main in Ventura. We sat out on their very pleasant patio and had pastas, salads, sandwiches all of which were very good. If it's not too far, would definitely recommend it.

      Tutti's Off Main
      34 N Palm St, Ventura, CA 93001

    2. I Love Sushi 5722 Telephone Rd. in the Vons center, across the street and within walking distance from the Government Center in Ventura, is popular with locals. Except for chains there isn't anything on Victoria. There are a few options in downtown Ventura, but that is too far for a lunch hour.

Taqueria Cuernavaca on Ventura Ave, is very good. They have al pastor from a spit.

I agree! Taqueria Cuernavaca is great, but I think the OP was looking for something close to the Ventura Courthouse and the Ventura Ave. area is quite a distance away.
