Like Sfoglia at the bar...can be anywhere in Manhattan, - but don't want to spend 3 hours on line. or go at 9pm...not fancy just really great food that isn't trying to be something its not. We are familiar with most usual suspects and looking, always, for something special new tucked away...Escaping from beloved 4 young kids in CT for weekend- Sat dinner most imp, prefer NOT tribeca- but also sunday lunch perhaps near Tribeca?

Triomphe is romantic nice midtown dinner place, very good food. No lines , not a "hot spot". Not sure if Greenwich Grill is open for lunch but its a nice place with Italian/French with Japanese influence. Jewel Bako/DeGustation / Harvest Supper in New Canaan if you havent been to the one in your home state , it's amazingly good

Annisa in West Village is what you are looking for.

If you have never been to Veritas, or if you have not been there since Chef Gregory Pugin took over the kitchen last summer, run, don't walk to sample his sensational French cuisine. Veritas is, of course, known for its extraordinary wine list. Service is cordial and professional. If you're looking for non-fussy, then you will find the soothing minimalist decor much to your liking. And the perfect lighting provides a lovely, romantic feel.

Not in Tribeca, but I think Perry Street is great for Sunday lunch.
