  1. really? plain sesame tahini is available at pretty much every standard grocery store and ethnic market. where have you been looking?

I'm only up here visiting for a couple of days. The only place I have tried was vons on victoria

a-ha...when you said you "cant find it anywhere" i knew that couldn't be right :)

as Bob said, TJ's probably has it.

you can also probably find it at the Ralph's on Victoria (look in the aisle with the peanut butter, AND the aisles with Asian and Middle Eastern ingredients - i've seen it displayed in both places depending on the store).

    2. There's a Trader Joe's on Victoria. They should have it.

trader joe's in westchester, manhattan beach, and west LA have not had it in as long as i can remember. probably this means that tj's in ventura doesn't have it either.

      2. Don't bother with the big, Dumb supers. Vons went 'lifestyle' and dropped it, Ralphs/FFL never did have it here, perhaps Albertsons does?
Unfortunately, Trader Joes hasn't carried tahini for years (and I constantly complain to them about it).

You will have much greater success by trying your nearest Whole Foods, Fresh and Easy or health food store. Gelsons or Bristol Farms, second choice.

Trader Joe's does indeed have it. I saw it just a few weeks ago along with the hummus in the non-dairy refrigerated section.

Hmmm. I'll recheck TJ's but I only remember their tahini *sauce* which is not the same thing. Thanks!

          2. How close is the nearest Jon's? I know there's one in Simi...

            1. Yes, any Jon's will probably have 5 varieties and Trader Joe's does indeed carry it--I bought some there last month.
