a-ha...when you said you "cant find it anywhere" i knew that couldn't be right :)

as Bob said, TJ's probably has it.

you can also probably find it at the Ralph's on Victoria (look in the aisle with the peanut butter, AND the aisles with Asian and Middle Eastern ingredients - i've seen it displayed in both places depending on the store).

There's a Trader Joe's on Victoria. They should have it.

trader joe's in westchester, manhattan beach, and west LA have not had it in as long as i can remember. probably this means that tj's in ventura doesn't have it either.

Don't bother with the big, Dumb supers. Vons went 'lifestyle' and dropped it, Ralphs/FFL never did have it here, perhaps Albertsons does?
Unfortunately, Trader Joes hasn't carried tahini for years (and I constantly complain to them about it).

You will have much greater success by trying your nearest Whole Foods, Fresh and Easy or health food store. Gelsons or Bristol Farms, second choice.

Trader Joe's does indeed have it. I saw it just a few weeks ago along with the hummus in the non-dairy refrigerated section.

Hmmm. I'll recheck TJ's but I only remember their tahini *sauce* which is not the same thing. Thanks!

How close is the nearest Jon's? I know there's one in Simi...

Yes, any Jon's will probably have 5 varieties and Trader Joe's does indeed carry it--I bought some there last month.

Lassen's on Main will have it as well. Not all Trader Joe's stock all products, but you can give them a shot.

Just a note regarding other answers here. I searched for tahini butter/paste yesterday. Trader Joe's does NOT have tahini paste. I asked an employee who said people often complain but they haven't changed. What TJ's has is tahini sauce. This is sesame seeds, plus oils, citric acid, garlic and lemon. It can still be used for adding to hummus but if you want pure sesame butter or paste or tahini paste you need to go to either the Indian or Middle Eastern markets or probably Lassen's, etc. There is an "Asian" market on Main where I bought it last time. I have never seen it in the regular market including yesterday's search which included Albertson's. Good luck.

Shamsi's Deli, 2705 E Thompson Blvd. carries it.
