Sushi in SM near Ocean & Wilshire?

Looking for good sushi places within walking distance of Ocean/Wilshire. Will be on a solo business trip, so someplace with lively atmosphere preferred. Thanks for any thoughts!

IMHO - without a doubt - Sushi King on Wilshire and 14th street is the bomb! A lovely walk from Ocean.

They are GREAT.

that particular Sushi Roku location is consistently awful...sub-par fish and worse service.

roku is decent but way overpriced for what you get, however, roku is very lively.

i've been there a few times for lunch and the service was always been attentive enough and never had subpar fish. no mouthwatering stuff, just average stuff.

perhaps it's the difference between lunch & dinner. i've never eaten lunch there, just three really bad dinners. two of those times the fish tasted "off" (some of us were even feeling queasy later one night), and the service was horrendous all three times.

it's certainly a "scene" though...and perfect if you're not interested in what your companions have to say, because you can't hear anything over the deafening noise ;)

interestingly, when i lived in WeHo i went to the Bev Center location frequently, and never had a bad meal or a problem with service.

Strangely enough there really aren't any good sushi places close (easy walking distance) to your location. Sushi Mon can be decent and a mile east on Wilshire is Sushi King (probably a better alternative than Mon). That's really all I can think of.

Add: A better idea would be to walk up Wilshire to Musha for a really good Japanese Izakaya (pub food) experience.

also, musha has a bar that you can sit at as a solo and watch all that is going on.
