In my opinion, the best Italian restaurant in Fresno is Parma (Herndon/Marks). She doesn't seem to have a site, so you could call to check on veal piccata.

I have never seen veal piccata on Parma's menu, but I would recommend calling and asking as Gail mentioned. The owner is very accomodating, and if you have a special request they might be able to do it...I imagine that Parma's would do a fantastic veal dish.

Gigi's (Ft. Washington & Friant) might have veal piccata. I have not eaten there myself, but I have heard very good reviews. I know that the owner makes his own fresh mozzarella - I have had that before (when I worked for a now closed Italian restaurant, pretty much all of the Italian families that own restaurans here in Fresno are somehow related and buy food such as pasta, olive oil and mozz from each other). The mozzarella is wonderful and melts in your mouth!!

Hmmm...those are the best two Italian restaurants that I would recommend, at least that I can think of for now for Fresno (not sure about Clovis). Hope that helps!!

Gigi's offers a veal chop in marsala sauce and it is superb. I like this place and it has survived the attrition which has closed many establishments in this shopping center. It would be a good choice for a birthday celebration. Ingredients and preparation are first rate from salads to desserts.
