I would like to try Alfanoose during my next visit but I am not familiar with the menu items. I have read several recommendations for the falafel pita sandwich which I would like to try, but I would also like to get a good sample of the other items that would be most representative of this style of food. Any suggestions?

  1. The chicken shawarma is my all-time favorite. The sandwich is very, very good, but they also have a hearty chicken shawarma meal - never been able to finish that.
I think what makes the shawarma special is the vinegar they cook the chicken in - it gives it a kick. The pickled onions are also terrific.
If you try it, let me know how you like it. It's one of my all-time favorite things to eat.

    1. I really like the mojadara there, it's a cracked wheat dish usually cooked with lentils. The one I really like is the tomato and red pepper one with fried onions on top. I also like the Foul Moudamas which is like a bean salad with lots of garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and parsley. The hummus there is pretty good. I always order delivery form there on seamlessweb and the portions are gigantic, they give you a lot o food.

      1. Thanks for the detailed suggestions. I'll be trying them out during my visit at the end of the month.

        1. I would definitely consider the lamb shwarma - it happens to be my favorite thing you can eat on the island of Manhattan for less than $10. Odd that Zagat's ignores Alfanoose, I write it in every year......
