Kingston, ON
We are visiting for a week. After looking on the boards we went to Wooden Heads last night. It was good but didn't WOW me. We have time for one more dinner out (MIL is watching the baby), and are considering Royal Angkhor. Is this a good choice? Are there others?
My wife, her cousin, and I decided to seek out a civilized lunch in Kingston on our way to Montreal. After reading a recent thread, I figured Wooden Heads would be a good choice.
There was a 20-30 minute wait however, so we walked around and noticed Olivea - menu looked good, very nice ambience. Anyway, we only had one meal there and I know nothing of the Kingston dining scene but it was really terrific, and reasonable too (10$ for a salad and any panini or pasta). Everything was remarkably fresh, from the mozzerella and goat cheese to the green in the various salads. Two of us ordered gnocchi with braised veal. Gnocchi were extraordinarily light and must be made in house - suspect the same is true of the mozzerella, but if not, they source their ingredients extremely well.

I always make a point of dining at Stefan's Bistro inside the Best Western Fireside Inn. It's quaint, the food is deliciously French bistro food, and the service is second to none. We've eaten there upwards of 20 times and had only one negative experience.

Don't know anything about Royal Angkhor, but Windmills (http://www.campuskings.ca/index.php?option=com_sobi2&sobi2Task=sobi2Details&catid=2&sobi2Id=94&Itemid=9999) is great for a more upscale meal and Frankie Pestos (http://www.frankiepestos.ca/index.htm) is great for Italian.
If you're around during the day, I HIGHLY suggest stopping by for a sandwich at Stuff'd Urban Eats (http://superfluism.blogspot.com/2008/...) -customized, fresh, and absolutely delicious!
Hope you enjoy your stay in the limestone city!
