My husband and I are going to visit Montreal for two days while visiting my mother-in-law with our six month old. I give that introduction so that people might understand that this meal out in Montreal will be the first and last (peaceful) meal out in awhile.

We were in Montreal three years ago and went to Club Chasse et Peche and LOVED it. We are looking for the same sortof experience.

Things to consider:
1. We are staying at the Delta Centre-ville
2. My husband eats fish and seafood but no other meat
3. I am breastfeeding so alcohol availibility/wine list is not a factor
4. It is next week so we have to be able to get a table. Not restaurants this won't be a problem I don't think because we prefer to eat early.

Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions. In the past I would have spent hours combing through the boards, making food plans for the trip but don't have that much luxurious time anymore!

I'll second that. They have the heartiest, tastiest (Portugese take on) bouillabaisse I've ever had.

I second Europea... in my experience, the food is always delicious and beautifully prepared. The ambiance is refined, and the service is polished.

I also enjoy Bronte. The food is first rate, the service attentive without being overwhelming.

I have yet to try the following, but these consistantly get great reviews:
La Chronique
La Montée
Toqué
L'Épicier

Have looked at the menus (while baby naps) and so far I am liking Europea and Ferreira, but still have a few days for suggestions.

One more question: My MIL's price for babysitting is dessert, where should we go for that?

if you do Europea, you could bring her back some macarons from the restaurant. They are made at their Espace Boutique, but usually available at the restaurant as well.
http://www.europea.ca/boutique/index.html

Not to be confused with macaroons, macarons are elegant & light pastries.
