Weekday Breakfast Downtown or Pearl

limecat Apr 10, 2009 11:30 AM

I am looking for a good breakfast spot to meet a friend from out of town who is staying downtown. Is there any place like Le Pichet in Portland?
Does anyone else have problems using the Chowhound search? I type in something so simple like breakfast in downtown Portland. and I get everything but! I've pretty much given up on using it.

Yeah, I'll agree that the search STINKS. I've started using YELP as my primary search and CHOWHOUND as my secondary search.

I'm not sure what Le Pichet is like....but try this thread.

Bijou cafe (from the other thread) is a good suggestion, but it's a dedicated breakfast place, not a French restaurant like Le Pichet. St Honore is French, but a little bit more olive gardeny.

Don't know Le Pichet at all.

Places downtown that are good for breakfast:

      Kenny & Zuke's

I second Kenny and Zuke's, but it is a far cry from Le Pichet.

Here is an article I found in Portland Monthly that was left in the hotel were I was staying last time I was down. It is all about breakfast spots and was helpful when I was there.

agreed. K&Z aint a french bistro!?
if what you're looking for is just a good breakfast then K&Z would work. others along that vain would include Byways, Besaw's, Fullers.

a place I have seen in the pearl that looks busy(although that hardly means anything) is Isobel. Menu looks quite french and its got an austere vibe. Has anyone been to this place? its on or about 9th and flanders. anyone?
