Cafe or Restaurant Near SF Main Library

I'm looking for an inexpensive, casual cafe or restaurant open on Sundays for lunch that would be an easy walk from the San Francisco Main Library. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks. I know there was a cafe in the library itself but I just looked on the Web and it appears to be closed.

  1. Bodega Bistro for VN or Lers Ros for Thai.

    1. The cafe at the Asian Art Museum is open 10:30 to 4:00 on Sunday [according top the museum website]...you don't need to pay museum admission to go there..when you enter the museum, go to the desk, tell the nice folks you're there for the cafe, and they'll give a cafe pass...

      1. Gyro King. It is across the street. Here's the place record with hours and reports

        1. If you can walk about 4 blocks, Brenda's French Soul Food on Polk (btw. Eddy/Turk) is a good brunch option (though there can be lines on the weekend).

          1. Thank you very much for all the suggestions. Turned out that the gathering did not need to be inexpensive so we ended up at Citizen Cake. This was my first time there and, while I did not have any of their signature desserts, I have to say I was underwhelmed by the place as a restaurant. I had the Chinese chicken salad, which was just so-so. Wines by the glass started at a stiff $11 or $12 and the atmosphere was nothing to write home about. Don't know what the big deal is, frankly, but it was packed for Sunday lunch/brunch.

So, no recession breaks at Citizen Cake then.
