Jam/Canning Instruction in Manhattan

Does anyone know of any jam-making or canning classes in the area? I know there are instruction sites on the web, but I do not trust myself alone to attempt this and would love to learn from someone who has got a lot of experience.

  1. You know, I would really be interested in doing that too. Let me know if you find anything.

    1. Just an oft chance idea from something a client was relating to me on a call; Mormons' Bishop Houses often hold monthly meeting where long term food storage techniques are taught/shared.

I googled around but can't seem to find anything about this. Do you know where I would locate this resource and do they allow non-Mormons to participate in these activities? Thanks again!

My client assured me that all were welcome. She said that in larger houses, they often set up one room to do/demo, say cryovacing, another, something else. Maybe looking to contact one of the local temples would help.

FANTASTIC, thanks, Joan! This is close to where I live, too!

hey there, i am looking into these classes as well. i found a blog called anarchy in a jar, and they're offering a class in BK end of june, but i think it might be closed to more people. the brooklyn kitchn seems to be offering some canning and pickling classes. i think i will take the august 1st class at the ICE as well.
i am also looking for canning retreats somewhere fun. have you found anything like that?
it would be awesome to get a few people together in manhattan and start canning ourselves. any interest in that?
email me at stephan at nowplusone dot com if you would be up for that!
