Brunch - EAT or Cafe Amelie?

If you could only choose one, which one would you pick and why? We care about ambiance, but food is more important.

  1. If you care about food more than ambience go with EAT. Their brunch menu offers a ton of variety. It is a fairly simple menu but there are creative touches to the menu such the tortes. It is comfort food with a modern twist. Cafe Amelie's courtyard is beautiful, but it is a bit hit or miss in terms of food quality and service. Even in choosing based on ambience, EAT is airy, bright w clean modern lines and a little bit "hip". It all depends on your preference. But for food I would certainly choose EAT.

I couldn't have said it better. ScarlettNola hit it right on the mark.

Also as a plus...EAT is BYOB so if you like mimosas or bloody mary's, you'll save a fortune going with EAT. And their fresh squeezed OJ is incredible.

2.'ll probably have less of a wait at EAT..if any at all. It stil seems to be a hidden gem though the word is getting out quick.

We need to stop talking about it! This is my go to FQ dinner when friends come to town. I love this place and do not want it overrun with tourists. Love y'all though.

As long as they leave their fanny packs at home we may spill the beans. We should add EAT and Lolas to the list of places we avoid recommending : )

we're from manhattan, so #1, I don't like tourists invading my local spots...thank god 90% of the ones that visit NY have no clue where to eat, and #2, I would rather be dead than be caught wearing a fannypack. i promise i won't wear one to EAT.

Kim e: After I read what I posted I hope you don't take it offensively I NEVER NEVER meant to come across as offensive and only making a joke. I promise to never wear my fanny pack when I come to Manhattan, but I am sure you know the type. Again sorry and hope you have an awesome time and let us know how it was. Have a great time in NOLA!
