Looking for a fab prix fixe Sunday brunch....haven't ever been to Biltmore--is it still top notch? Also hear Scarpetta has a great one. Have been to Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne and South Beach champagne brunches and loved 'em. Looking for the best one of the moment. Thanks!

I have not been but I have heard good things about Scarpetta. I would give the new kid on the block a try, it is about the same price as the others at $50 pp (not sure about Easter Weekend), however good luck getting in any of them if your intent is for Easter Sunday. In this economy you never know and might be able to get in one of the 3

We had a great brunch at Talulah last October. Very reasonably priced at $29 pp. I hear Nemo has a good brunch but have not been. Don't know if it is fixed price. Looking forward to brunching at Brosia (Saturday brunch) when we are in Miami the end of the month.

my husband and I go to Brosia almost every Saturday for brunch. It's a fantastic vibe. They give you complimentary shooters of their drink of the day, make killer bloody Marys, have a jazz trio playing outdoors and their omelette and spinach tarte are fabulous! Enjoy. And thanks for the tips!

Went brunching at Brosia this past Saturday. You were spot on HJ. Complimentary shooter was the Bloody. The regular sized Bloody Mary was excellent as well. My wife had the Steak and Eggs benedict which were fabulous. I had a burger which was really good. Jazz trio was good. Service was leisurely. And by "leisurely" I mean had it been any longer we'd have missed our flight back. Only slightly kidding. Two hours from the time we sat down till the time I got the check. But it was a nice day to sit outdoors and take in the sun and the sights. We will definitely go back next time we are down Miami way.

HJ>

Talula is doing Easter Brunch as is Michy's... 2 to consider. We did Easter at Nemo last year and it was AMAZING (as it is most weekends). Assuming you mean an ALL YOU CAN EAT deal, the Biltmore is - in my opinion - bigger but not better than most (overblown and over-priced)) and frankly I prefer all I can eat of consistently good and also SOME unexpected dishes (@ Nemo) rather than the "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" concept the Biltmore rolls out Sundays.

Scarpetta is a really great brunch but - as TP will attest - Sundays at Sardinia are just WAY less hassle than navigating the F'Bleau and the spaghetti omelette is delicious. Bottom line for me is the HOTEL dining experience is just more work come Sunday - I hate valet parking - and unless you are courting that "staycation" feeling of being a tourist in your own town - better to support a local chef like Dewey, Allen, Frank & Andrea, Kris, Michelle - whoever got up early to make your Sunday better.

That said -

I understand the 1 Bleu Easter brunch this year is serving later and will have great "later in the day" savory entrees too. I love Mark Militello so I am biased. If the weather is still as nice as it was yesterday, eating outside this weekend will be MY goal... Brosia? Nemo? My own backyard!

Happy Holidays to All (Matisyahu is Matzoh Mashing at LIV Sunday! OY!)

hey thanks but not looking for brunch for THIS Sunday...just Sunday in general...is Scarpetta full of heavy Italian fare for brunch, do you know? I've been to Nemo a hundred times for brunch over the years..since it used to cost , I believe, $19.95! Was looking for something different or equally as classic, that's why I asked about the Biltmore since I never did that one!

Yes, sorry. Friday and Saturday nights can get hectic - not that its bad mind you. Food quality doesn't suffer. I simply prefer the calm (maybe nearly dead) daytime atmosphere to enjoy the quality of the food. There's a lot of delicate flavors and carefully crafted dishes, down from the pasta itself and up that you can get distracted from.

AG. Did you ever try my version of the spaghetti omelette? More expensive but well worth it. Here is what I ask for:
Add Mozzerella and Guanciale
Ask for fresh pepper and enough parmesan cheese to so you can ski off the top of the omelete (that's how I do it, it is great with a little less parm if you cant hack all the cheese).
This brings it to a whole new level...If you haven't done this, try it next time.

Damn t! Went to Sardinia for brunch Sunday but saw your post too late. The frittata is phenomenal, but didn't get it t-fied. I did, however, ask for parmesan so I was on the right track. It was my first time there but won't be last. It's great for a long mellow Sunday morning/afternoon.

Being the flag waver for sardinia that I am, I think the rest of the brunch menu is just ok (the croissants are good but they were made in the morning so you will never get amazing croissants there...)

Went to Scarpetta on Easter Sunday. I had not been to the Fontainebleau since the renovation, and had high hopes and expectations. I must say, my first impression was not good. I am not a fan of the restaurant's decor at all. I believe the look they were going for was cruise liner chic, but the end result is a nautical mishmash that does not blend well. Must be the economy but it was empty. we had no reservation, but got a table on the outdoor patio. The view was spectacular, if you managed to ignore the massive pool area full of screaming kids (I overlooked this, as it was Easter). The $50 prix fixe included unlimited Mimosas or Bellinis, the buffet, and a hot dish.

The awkwardly placed buffet looked quite attractive, but when I approached eagerly, I was disappointed to find many similar things (several types of grilled veggies, several pickled veggies). If they are going to have a trimmed-down, select brunch, they should offer more variety. Other than that, the food was ok. The creamy truffled polenta with wild mushrooms was quite good, although it tasted too much like cream. For my choice of hot dish I ordered the octopus, and it was very tasty. The mini desserts looked lovely but I was disgusted to bite into a profiterole to find...flavourless pastry cream! Not even a dash of vanilla! The rest of the desserts were similarly lacking.

Then the check came. One member of our party passed on Bellinis and had one Pepsi the entire meal, and when the bill came I was surprised they charged $5 for the soda. I mean, what gives? $50 for brunch and they have the balls to charge for soda?

Since I was paying $10 to valet ($18 if you don't have validation from the restaurant), I decided to see the rest of the hotel. All in all, I do not see the billion dollars they put into it. The lobby bar that looks like a swimming pool did not impress me. I think I'd prefer the Mondrian.

I will need to read some great reviews in order to venture back to this hotel to try out the other eateries. As usual, South Beach dining was a bust for a true food lover. I am sure the SoBe vaycay crowd will go wild, though, but I will take my tax refund to the mainland.
