Breakfast Near Marriot Wardman Park

Hi there,

We will be in DC for four days for the first time. We are traveling with our 9 yr old and 3 yr old. We would love any recommendations for really good casual breakfast places near our hotel. Good coffee, omelettes, pancakes sort of place and kid friendly..oh and not too expensive. Thanks!! Any other food recommendations for lunch or dinner would are also welcome. Kid friendly Easter brunch too please? Thanks again!

  1. check out the current thread about the Omni, they're just around the corner from you, several places either right there on CT or a less than 15 minute walk over the bridge to a lot on 18th in Adams Morgan

    1. Open City is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Especially breakfast. It's pretty loud in there, good for kids. It can get packed on weekends though, so don't choose that one for Easter brunch.

Good Middle Eastern at Lebanese Taverna or Mama Ayesha, although they are not extremely casual. Extremely casual in Adams-Morgan (10 minute walk across Duke Ellington Bridge) is Granja de Oro (Peruvian chicken) and Old City Cafe (felafel and schawarma); and 15 minute walk to Cleveland Park is excellent take-out only pizza from Vace. Another good casual breakfast spot on a nice day is Firehook in Cleveland Park, where you can get an ordinary pastry but sit in an exceptionally nice terrace behind the shop.

If you head to the National Cathedral for sight-seeing, take your kids to 2 Amys for very good pizza. It's a traditionally kid-friendly place.

      1. Petits Plats is across the street on Connecitcut Avenue -- an informal French place in an old townhouse with excellent brunch. Not too formal to bring kids. No pancakes, bur crepes and omelets, I recall.
