Would like a moderatly priced Spanish tapas with great wine list. Prefer near St James area but will travel within reasonable distance. Thanks

Barrafina in Soho - not too far from St James. You can't book (you sit at the bar like a true tapas place) and may have to queue at peak time. Their jamon is the best I have had in London and they have some really good seafood - all cooked in front of you as you order.
Alternatively try their other restaurant Fino, more formal but not really moderately priced.

I also like Salt Yard on Goodge St, it's more moderately priced than the others but still great food. They also have a sister restaurant off Carnaby St but I havent yet tried this.

I'll second Barrafina. The Mayfair El Pirata is pretty good, too, though it's a bit more Anglicised. Fino is outstanding but pricy.

A bit far from St James, but Brindisa at Borough Market is inexpensive and excellent.

I've only been to Barrfina and found it very good. I went there at 12 pm on a Saturday, just about the time it opened and didn't have to wait at all, if it helps.
