Dog Show this weekend-harrisburg

Hello Chowhounds,
I am a new yorker going to the dog show this weekend in Harrisburg. Will be staying at the Crowne Plaza and need recommendations for take-out or somewhere nearby that's walking distance. WIll need Friday night dinner, (Mangia Qui? Suba?) and Sat breakfast. Would love a recommendation for a deli or restaurant to take food with me to the Farm Show Building as I'm sure food there would make me cranky. The day is long at the show and I've got to keep my energy up!

  1. There are just a few restaurants that are mentioned frequently on this board and you named two - Mangia Qui and Suba. Both are great. Right behind the Crowne Plaza are Bricco and El Sol. - also very good. For a picnic lunch to take to the Farm Show, you might want to go across the river to the West Shore Farmers Market in Lemoyne and hit a few of the stands. The market is open on Fridays and on Saturday mornings and it's very close to the Crowne Plaza (though in the opposite direction from the Farm Show). You could do the same at the Broad Street Market in Harrisburg (on your way to the Farm Show).

A lot of the exhibitors go to the What if Cafe also. The Farm show supposedly will be cracking down on exhibitors bringing in outside food this year. So you may be cranky. If you are showing on Friday, stop by the superintendents table and ask for Tom. My wife is the showchair for Fridays show. Above recommendations are good.

Thank you both. Now I don't feel completely clueless :-)
It's a shame that the venues make people eat lousy food at really high prices.
I get in around 4 on Friday. Will see if there is anything going on at that time.
