If you're planning to buy in Brookline before the Seder, you'll have to go early in the day, as Andrew's Catering (in house made kosher for Passover desserts), the Butcherie, (kosher for Passover desserts made in Brooklyn, also lots of choices of kosher for Passover chocolates and candy), and Kupels (same as the Butcherie), all on Harvard St. in Brookline, will close in the afternoon of that Friday. (As they do every Friday.)

Tatte's Bakery on Beacon and St. Mary's carries passover deserts - Party Favor on Beacon Street near Coolidge Corner has a passover desert menu but I don't know if it would be kosher/parev standards. Kupels has kosher but generally not very good baked goods and i wouldn't bring them to anyone's home even if they were fresh. While Clear Flour is not kosher I'm guessing that the macaroons and anything they say is unleavened would be acceptable in a home that wasn't glatt kosher.

During 2012, the current year, the Friday in question is not this coming Friday, but rather 6 April, so there is ample time to shop around.

Glatt kosher is being used as if it were strictly kosher. Technically glatt kosher applies only to meat because it describes an extra strict inspection to insure that the lungs of the animal are smooth, without any defects. So pastry cannot be glatt kosher.

The question is whether or not the seder in question is strictly (a better term than glatt) kosher or simply kosher style. If strictly kosher then Andrew's would probably have the best products. The Butcherie also has a wide selection. But, particularly for Andrew's it is best to reserve in advance.

If simply kosher style, i.e. not kosher, then the options are practically limitless.

No problem. Also, I heard that Finale is offering Passover desserts. You'd probably want to call to find out. It's not my favorite bakery as they tend to be expensive, but it's convenient, right in Coolidge Corner, Brookline.

Try Kupels Bakery a Jewish Bakery in Brookline on Harvard Street. They are known for their bagels, but they have a wide assortment of Jewish cookies, pastries and cakes. They have Bubkas, half and half cookies and Hamantaschen, among other things.

There is also Cheryl Ann's, also in Brookline, but closer to Putterham Circle. Also, very yummy. You can't go wrong.

I think Kupels closes for Passover as it is probably too much work to clean out all the hametz for the week. The desserts you mentioned would not be appropriate for Passover...all regular/with leavening! Also, Cheryl Ann's is certainly not a kosher bakery, and I am pretty sure they don't do any Passover desserts. Whole foods carries a few boxed things....but I don't usually have good luck with any of their baked goods. When in doubt.....make your own!! I'm making a citrus sponge cake served w/fresh berries and cream.

Science Chick is right about Kupels closing for the holiday but I believe they sell some prepackaged Passover desserts. They would be certified kosher-for-Passover but they look like they've been wrapped since last Passover. What I don't know is whether Kupels and the Butcherie will be open tomorrow until midday or whether today is their last open day until after the holiday.

I know that those desserts aren't suitable for Passover, I was just trying to give Blumie and idea of what they usually carried ...

Sorry....guess I got confused and thought you were recommending their usual offerings......

If the dessert can be kosher-style but not glatt kosher, meaning as long as it doesn't have flour or leavening it's ok, I'd vote for Clear Flour bakery in Brookline. Passover specials there include macaroons, flourless hazelnut cake and fallen chocolate cake.

Vicki Lee's, in Belmont, has wonderful Passover desserts.

Blumie, I don't see on the website that the food is Kosher for Passover. Do you happen to know?

I don't know. The heading on the menu that reads "Passover" is good enough for me!!
