Asheville Reviews - Curras Dom (Brunch) and The Admiral
Enjoyed these two very much and, more importantly, felt we received GREAT value at these meals. Curras' Sunday Brunch was especially a surprise since I've reported before that while I thought their food was excellent, it was waaaaay overpriced. Well, not true for brunch - portions are HUGE and everything is in the $7-9 range. I had migas (scrambled eggs with fresh fried tortillas mixed in) and my husband had eggs, bacon and 2 giant tamales (name of that escapes me..."Hungry Huevo" or something like that). Both were served with charro beans (these were incredible), home fries and fresh tortillas. Tons of food - my plate was $6.95 and his was $8, I think. I also ordered OJ which was fresh squeezed at the bar while I waited. Definitely worth a trip.
The raves about the Admiral are all true, only I disagree with anyone who thinks it is pricey. My husband and I had 4 small plates (and we really only needed three- we were too full to finish the 4th), a bottle of wine plus 2 extra glasses of wine, and we got out of there for a total of $80 (which included tip). I thought that was more than reasonable for that much wine and excellent food. We will definitely be back.
Oh. and even though I did not put this in my title, let me just add that I don't think we will be going back to Cucina 24. We were there for a special occasion, and once again, it was just OK. Not bad...just not great. For that price point I'll choose Fig or Stovetrotter's. Or now, save a few bucks and hit The Admiral.
