Brunch in the tourist zone.

Hi all, long time no post.

I have friends - a couple and their young son - visiting town this weekend. Staying at the Sofitel near Lafayette Square. They're doing the Smithsonian etc tourist visit. I'm trying to think of worthwhile Saturday brunch spots in that general neck of the woods. Old Ebbitt is a possibility - tho' I must say it's been years since I've been there and would appreciate any recent brunch/lunch feedback. Other thoughts? Thanks as always!

Well if ti could be somewhere on the way down to the Smithsonian, Cafe Atlantico has a great brunch, on Saturday it isn't the latin dim sum, but still very good. Cafe Du Parc might be another choice.

I agree...Cafe Atlantico has a fun brunch. Also near there is Poste which has a nice brunch.

If you are willing to head up towards the Capitol/Union Station area (depending on which museum you are heading to this could be a 15 minute walk or less) I suggest heading to Bistro Bis. They have one of my favorite brunches in town.

Thanks, and thanks Elyssa also. I was shifting focus over to Penn Quarter, maybe Oyamel. We like it and I think we could interest their kid in at least some of their offerings.......

ktmoomau we seem to have similar tastes in avatars........

I don't know what that says about either of us, except perhaps a strong preference for raw fish.

I think Oyamel might work even with a kid. I think they have the great guacamole that Cafe Atlantico has I highly recommend that.

The young son might not like the food there. You would have to be careful. I think Old Ebbitt would be a good idea. In Penn Quarter: Clyde's, Poste or Matchbox.

I keep forgetting about Matchbox for brunch. I went there once and liked it. They had a stuffed french toast that was good.
