Petak's closed in March.

Now Balducci's is closing both NYC locations at the end of the month...


so sad.

    Mangia on Wall, Elyssa Dido and Good World Bar on Orchard.

    We need to support our restaurants and neighborhood shops (Economy Candy, etc.).

      Just found this out today when I walked in and saw the place almost empty. There are some good deals on cheese and other items in their clearance process, but they said the store will be done in two days. Very sad.

        I stopped in Saturday and got some good deals as well. It's sad, but that location of Balducci's was doomed to fail--way too little content/items in a way too large space.

          Me too. Picked up some cheeses, gluten-free crispbread, Marie Belle hot chocolate and some olive bruschetta mix (for my dad) for a really good price.

            Looks like I missed all the good stuff. I just went today and it was cleaned out. Nothing really caught my eye of what was left. It was kind of depressing really.

        Sad to see places close but Petak's really should have gotten its act together and it might have remained in business. Unfriendly and overpriced so I never went in there, despite the dearth of food places in Carnegie Hill...Sorry to see that Town restaurant has bitten the dust.

          Wow, Town at the Chambers Hotel closed? I had no idea. The last time I went was about a year ago for a kind of large work function. I remember the host mentioning how pricey dishes were. The place definitely was on the higher end of the price charts. I guess it's just too tough for a place like that to survive in the current market.

            no doubt. another indication - Jeffrey Chodorow's place Kobe Club is closing tomorrow.
