Restaurant nr. Booksmith in the Haight?

I'm attending a friend's reading tomorrow night at Booksmith, on the Haight. Never been there, and am rarely in the City. Can anyone recommend a decent restaurant? I am hoping not to spend more than $30 per person (Will not be drinking wine, since I'm driving back to the peninsula) Thank you!

  1. Kanzaman is a Palestinian restaurant about 2 blocks up on Haight that's very good. There's also Cha Cha Cha's and Citrus Club,

Thank you so much for these excellent suggestions! Will try one of them tonight!

    2. Magnolia Brewpub has excellent house-made beers, as well as sausages, cured meats/salumi, burgers, etc... It's a few blocks up Haight from Booksmith at Masonic. Should be in your price range.

      1. Thank you all who replied, I'm planning to return to the Haight soon. I loved the night scene there! My friend and I ended up eating at Cha Cha Cha. We entered at 6:30, and didn't have to wait. Just half an hour later, there was a line out the door.

I had lechon asado (sooo delicious!) and chanced sangria. My friend had paella. We shared our plates. Both meals were so delicious (and I was interested that the Cuban version of lechon is so different from the version I grew up with in the Philippines!) Bill, with tax, was $32.
