Takeyama gone! Any suggestions?

Well, I don't know when they closed, but my wife and I tried to go to Takeyama in Plantation for dinner tonight and is has been shut down. The phone number is disconnected. Does anyone here know when they closed up shop? I'm going to miss that place.

Can anyone recommend any replacement for good sushi in central Broward (Davie, Plantation, Sunrise, Lauderhill)? Since I've been going to Takeyama I haven't really tried anywhere else in this area.

  1. Based on other recommendations on this board, I finally tried Marumi Sushi this weekend. It's located on Sunrise Blvd., in the strip shopping center located on the north side of Sunrise, between University Dr. and Pine Island Rd. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful navigating through their menu and daily blackboard specials. They will show you their fresh catch of the day. They are open until very late in the evening especially for sleepy west Broward. We had some delicious flash fried baby bok choi and a variety of sushi. Their mixed fish/seafood sushi really stood out due in part from the tasty sauce that had a slight kick to it and variety of fresh seafood laced throughout. All of the sushi we tried that night was fresh and slightly different from others we've had elsewhere. Cilantro with tuna was also very good. We can't wait to go back to work our way through their menu. It also spoke volumes that they had a large Asian clientele. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yea, I've been reading about the place. I think we're going to head over there soon! Thanks for the tip!
