[DLH] New Siamese restaurant in Duluth, MN

Walking (yes, walking) between Best Buy and the Miller Hill Mall yesterday I noticed a new Thai restauarant in "The Village Square" strip mall, which sits right below the new Slumberland furniture store. This strip mall was home to the late "Saigon Cafe", a Vietnamese - Chinese restaurant.

The new restaurant's name is "Bangkok Royal". Entering it around 6:00 p.m. I saw several tables full, though it was not jam-packed. Nobody was at the desk nor came out in the 5 or so minutes I was there, despite the loud door alarm. You would have to yell yourself to get service!

This was fortunate for me as I was able to read their menu, with no intention of dining, in peace. They seem to have most of the Thai restaurant standards, as well as some seafood / fish specials - a board announced Pompano fish prepared a certain way for something like $25. For a strip-mall Asian restaurant, this new place seemed a bit expensive. Tom Yum Geen and Beef Thai Larb were offered for $14.99 and $16.99 (order might be reversed); Pad Thai, if I remember correctly, was $12.99. However, perhaps this place is just starting out or is really good and can somehow justify the prices. I don't know. Anybody who starts a restaurant in this economy is quite brave, however.
