Murphy's law: you can never find it on tap in Vancouver

  • 9

Actually, I'm hoping my post title is wrong. The SO had a few wee pints of Murphy's on our recent San Francisco sojourn (hope to post on that board this w'end if you're interested) which has reminded him of how much he likes it. Anywhere have this dark elixir on tap in our fair city?

Don't know about Vancouver, but I have had Murphy's at The Irish Times on Government Street at the top of Bastion Square in Victoria.

On a visit I had ordered a pint of Guiness and the bartender inquired if I had ever had Murphy's. I loved this stout. Great taste without quite the same bitter bite that Guiness can have.

If they serve it at the Irish Times perhaps The Penny Farthing and The Bard and the Banker also serve it as I think they are associated.

I inquired about getting it here in Edmonton from an acquaintance who owns some pubs here but there was a problem in getting it.

Thanks Bob Mac -- at least Victoria is a bit closer than SF :-). I'll cross my fingers that some of the beer 'Hounds on the board know of a source nearer by, though.

I wonder if the Heather has it?

I'm pretty sure the Heather has it. Also try Fog and Firken on W. Broadway.

No joy at the Heather or Frog and Firkin, alas. And it turns out the SO has had Murphy's at the Irish Times in Victoria, Bob Mac!

Hoping maybe when bcbrews gets back from Chicago he will have some Murphy's intel for me -- not sure if he frequents this board though.

Here ya go: The Penny Lane Neighbourhood Pub is one of the few establishments to serve Murphy's Stout. I've been here many times, but never noticed, nor drank it!

Well done, ck! Thanks a bunch.

A quick update: Penny Lane is no more, but the SO found Murphy's on tap at Red Card downtown for $8 a pint. I'd suggest going there to drink only based on our one visit, however.

hmm...i looked at Red Card's website and don't see Murphy's listed....anyone know if they still carry it? Thanks...
