Back from Bolivia; looking for great seafood in'sauga!
Hi! After 18 days away, I am dying for some wonderful seafood this evening. I'm hoping it will wash the memory of llama meat and cow tongue away forever.
Both Lucy's and Red Lobster have sketchy reviews....can anyone recommend a place in Mississauga or Oakville that fits the bill? Lobster, shrimp, scallops...I'm happy with anything, really. Or perhaps one Lucy's is better than another?
Mississauga's Lucy's and Red Lobster have never particularly impressed me. For a first meal back you deserve better.
One place that continues to delight us, although I hesitantly recommend it, is Bistro Matisse in Clarkson Village. This reluctance is not so much about the culinary and service competency, but it's Friday night. Chef Jean-Jacques is a master with fish, but he is also a one man show in the kitchen and fish requires concentration above all.
For example, I had lunch there yesterday and had his sublime Fish Soup ($5), an amazing bowl of rich stock covered with a large just-cooked haddock filet over cubes of tender salmon, mussels, and bite sized pieces of white fish. Nothing was overcooked. With slices of a fresh baguette is was a blissful experience.
While I was there whole fresh fish were delivered, so we know he's not using the frozen products from the major distributors. Call 905-822-2222 and see what they have that might interest you.

Happy dining again.
I haven't been for a long time, but my standard seafood restaurant was Whaler's Wharf on Dundas, east of Dixie in Mississauga. There was also a place in Oakville that I think was called Richard's (?), but I don't think it exists anymore.
