Gift Box

We are coming to NO in two weeks for a short visit (from Phila) and would like to send a gift of NO treats to the people who are making our trip possible by caring for our four legged companions. The food should be "ready to eat" and preferably both sweet and savory.
What would you send? (We'd like to make the arrangements before we go so they have the box while we are away)
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Try Leah's Pralines, they have creole gift boxes, call to order & perhaps they will ship to PA? the website is leahspralines.com

Also, if you wanted to add any t-shirts, beads, masks, or other conventional tourist items for the basket you can visit The French Market in the Quarter. It is basically an open air flea market of sorts that caters primarily to tourists. But dont buy any foodstuff, spices etc., as they are more pricey. Go to a grocery store such as Rouses or even Whole Foods. If you are in the market for a more pricey item, you could check the boutiques on Magazine Street.

Crystal Hot Sauce, Hubigs Pie, Zapps Chips, andouille sausage, Creole Mustard, Pralines, Chicory Coffee, beignet mix, Pat O Briens Hurrican Mix, Mardi Gras Beads, cheese straws....You could try Crescent City Farmer's Market(Held in different places-check out the website www.crescentcityfarmersmarket.org for locations) You could purchase mirlitons or other produce of Louisiana. Good luck. What a great idea! A lot of these items could simply be purchased from a grocery store and you may get alot of new ideas while there!

Yes get them from the grocery so you won't spend so much. Good point Scarlet. Also I'll throw in Zatarain's dinners, Tony's canned etouffe (if you can find it) and Mam Papaul's king cake mix.

Thanks for the suggestions, but is there somewhere I could order a box of these things from - I really want them to get it the day after we leave Phila so they have it while we are in New Orleans? I know it will cost me more, but it will make me happier. I will undoubtedly bring them something back as well!

You can also try www.auntsallys.com. They can put together various "New Orleans" food gift baskets.
