Does anyone know where I can purchase fresh mussels to cook? I've only found frozen on the half shell and precooked. Mahalo!

I'd check with Tamashiro's on North King...they seem to have everything else live.

Yah, I've had some recipes calling for mussels I wanted to try and hunted everywhere and came up with nothing. I substituted clams.

The local waters may be too warm for mussels. Flying fresh farmed ones from Washington may be too expensive.

Frozen mussels, usually in the half shell, from Chile or New Zealand, are a good substitute for fresh.

Manila clams yes, mussels no, unless Whole Foods has them.
