  1. Arepas can usually be found in many good Latin restaurants, Venezuela, Colombian, etc....they are usually deep fried, or grilled & stuffed with many different things like shredded pork, garlic shrimp, etc, & drizzled with a special sauce also.
El Familiar in Toms River serves them....Yummy. heres an example picture.

Remember seeing them at the Middlesex County Fair in August - East Brunswick NJ as well.

        2. El Familiar Restaurant Freehold NJ (Monmouth County)
No idea if it is good (have not been here) or the same restaurant owners as the recommendation below by Tapas52 in Toms River. These are still on my must try list :)

El Familiar Toms River is a different owner then the Freehold one.

          2. Saw these in... a Target or Walmart, I think..in the luncheonette. Must have been Target, we try to avoid Walmart as much as possible.

My wife likes 'em. I've also seen them at Stewart's Root Beer stands.

Do you happen to know which Target it may have been? I was thinking I would have to wait until June at the next festival for one!

And which Stewart's? (The one I had at a local fair was gross, but I could see how it could be very yummy if done right)

                1. re: Heatherb

I don't remember the particular Target, sorry. We frequent the one in Manalapan, but not even sure if that's the right one.

The Stewart's I saw (and ate one) at was in Gillette, NJ.

If you're desperate, looks like you can order your own box of 12 at www.mozzarepas.com (I am in no way affiliated with the site).
