French Laundry res

I went online to the french laundry and web site said that I could make reservations up to 2 months in advance. This is confusing becasue I thought from reading other posts that it took sometimes a year in advnace to get in. I want to go for my 15th anniversary which is in 2 years.

thanks for the help.

  1. They only accept reservations two months to the calendar day in advance i.e. March 1 becomes available on Jan 1. The website is correct.

The phone lines open at 10 am, and some tables are released to open table.

You don't need to worry about this for one year and ten months...

Or, you worry for 1 year 10 months, then you get lucky on that one day. Others have had more luck with open table for exact-day reservations. Or they might change the policy in the next 2 years!

I used to have an in and ate there several times but have tried repeated times over the last year and have never had sucess even being put on the waiting list.

    2. Although lately, with these difficult economic times, reservations are showing up quite frequently on Open Table for next week or sooner...

Carrie, have you tried using OpenTable? I'm starting to think that's an urban myth about FL res on OT during these tough economic times, because everytime I read that I try to go on OT to get a reservation and they same message always pops up saying reservations are not available within 30 days of the date I choose, and I usually choose a date within the next week since people are saying reservations are poppoing up. But have yet to be successful on OT.

I got a same day reservation on OpenTable! Not a myth.

I could several times a month ago -- but that was during the cold, rainy season. Now that Spring has sprung, the tourists are heading towards wine country and it is becoming more difficult.

I found tables for 4 available on Thursday the 9th, next week, and Sunday April 19th, in 2 weeks. Just now. So not an urban legend.

I suspect they come and go quickly as people cancel and other people snap up the reservations. BTW, both those tables were still available this morning.

          2. Does FL no longer do the any-time reservations for larger groups? For years, that was one of the alternative, less-known ways to book there. The restaurant would take reservations at any time for groups of eight or more people.

That's for the private dining room -- I believe they still do that.
