New coffee shop in Ambler

I stopped by Cafe Maida on Butler Avenue last night, eager to try the new addition to our neighborhood. It was really cute, a bit sparse because they just opened a few days ago but it has nice tables and big windows for people watching, cases full of italian cookies and pastries, and, my favorite, gelato. I had 2 scoops of gelato - strawberry balsalmic and chocolate, great combination. We sampled a bunch of ther flavors - pistachio was great too. Everything was served in cute glass dishes. The coffee smelled great., can't wait to try it. Its a nice family run local place, I definitely plan to go back. I heard they offer paninis and other lunch items.

We seem to have a plethora of panini and gelato places in Ambler, but thats not necessarily a bad thing :) Toto's on Main Street is still my favorite gelato (I dream of their Donatella gelato), but Cafe Maida is really good and that strawberry balsalmic gelato was great (especially with the chocolate).

I've heard that Toto's makes the gelato for Cafe Maida, and From the Boot, so they should be just fine no matter where you get your gelato.

Totp's does make the gelato at From the Boot, but not Cafe Maida. Both are very good but Toto'sis something special, a little denser than the gelato at Cafe Maida. Toto's has more traditional flavors, where Maida dores have some more interesting combinations like strawberry balsalmic and banana carmel. Toto's is my favorite but you realy can't go wrong at eaither place!

Pleased to see Maida is still there. Everytime I visit (weekdays), it is always very sparsely populated.

They usually get pretty big after-theater crowds, but yes it always seems to be empty during the week.

Stopped in before an Act ll matinee show. Had a cappuccino and biscotti which hit the spot. Next time I'll try the gelato.

We love Totos too. Hope Ambler can support both gelato places.

Well, I'm pregnant right now and gelato is my current craving, so I'm sure I can personally keep both places in business for at least a few months!

It is on the corner near Act II Playhouse (but the opposite side of the street). One block over from Schanachie.
