There is absolutely nothing out there. Closest place is White's City. There used to be a restaurant in the motel complex right at the foot of the road into Carlsbad Cavern's NM but I head it was being closed down. In Carlsbad itself, I guess the best meal we have had (out of many) was in Steven's Restaurant in the Best Western. But that has been years and years ago. The locals recommended the No Whiner Diner, and while it was OK it didn't seem great.
