Changes at The Avenue Grille

New chef and a name change.
The menu looks run of the mill stuff, chicken and veal parm, steak tips etc.
I understand the chef came from a North End restaurant.
imho the other chefs did a much better job.

I live right around the corner. I went there 2 Saturdays ago. Was it "new" then? I would never have noticed.

    Taco Real is pretty good.....

Yikes! That's where I was going to dinner tonight. Think I'll wait for more indepth reviews. Hope it works out. I liked Lauren and crew. Always a serviceable spot.

I *think* the sign says "New Avenue Grill". I'll verify later today.

I don't think we can handle a name change like that. How will we ever remember it? :-b

              :)

I didn't get over there today. I want to try out the taco place next door, so I'll confirm tomorrow.

Janzy is right, the printed menu's in the window say Jake's. The sign on the store front still says The Avenue Grill. Unfortunately they also have a sign in the window saying they will no longer serve breakfast. Too bad.

Haven't been to the Avenue in awhile, but I always enjoyed it there. Is there a change in ownership as well?

Not sure about a new owner, but the waitress did say they had a new manager and the breakfast chef was new to the breakfast shift.

I think they are calling it Jake's.
As far as I know it's still owned by one of the Baker Bros.

We just moved into the neighborhood and had breakfast there twice last weekend. The first day I had the eggs benny, which was great. The poached eggs were perfect and the sauce had just the right amount of lemon served with a medium diced fried potatoes. Second morning I went with poached eggs with bacon and the same potatoes. The bacon was really tasty with just the right crispness -- possibly deep fried.

The coffee was good and service was very friendly. We'll be back for sure.
