Georges California Modern / Amaya
Have not been to Georges California Modern since the renovation. Does the quality of the food match the price? Been there few years ago and were quite happy.
How about Amaya for dinner? Had lunch there and it is good. Dined at Addison, fancy food but too pricey. Is Amaya a good alternative?
Looking for a special restaurant for a celebration/thank you dinner. Willing to splurge but food has to be excellent. Also looking for great ambiance and a nice stroll in the area would be a bonus. LJ or North County Coastal.
Few possibilities are:
Sushi-Ota (with Mr. Ota): best sushi, fun evening, not much ambiance and no stroll.
Cavaillon: medium food/price/ambiance. no stroll.
Georges California Modern: is food ok? great ambiance and nice stroll afterwards
Amaya @ Grand Del Mar: dinner ok? great ambiance and beautiful surrondings for a nice stroll and good wine list
Any other recommendations?
Thanks in advance.
George's Modern downstairs is very nice. I found it a bit bland during the winter months, but spring produce really elevates the chef's menu offerings. However, one of the partners (Mark Oliver) has left and I feel that the service has suffered at the overall enterprise operations. He was the front-of-the-house-guy for many, many years.
We've been to George's downstairs since the renovation and have been quite happy w/ the food.
You can kind of stroll after Cavaillon through all the residential areas...
Kaito in Encinitas for best sushi in strip mall ambiance and stroll through the large strip mall afterwards...
Yumeya in Encinitas for izakaya and sake bar. Pseudo-stroll along Hwy 101 and the residential area.
If you can splurge, Addison at the Grand Del Mar is very, very good.
