Indian Palate, all palates

Has anyone dined at this new Indian restaurant in downtown Coral Gables yet? I just had the lunch buffet for $12.95 pp and was pleasantly surprised. The space itself is about as far removed from typical Indian decor as it gets. Not quaint and slightly cheesy or rich and colorful or modern and minimal, the space has marble floors and wood accents and a generally nice decor giving the impression of eating at a nice restaurant. The spread featured two meats, mussels, salad, chickpeas, palak paneer, vegetable Khorma, a curried cabbage (surprisingly good), chutneys, doughie naan, a cheese like grit dish, and a few other items, and well-made desserts. The chicken and pork were not their strongest suit, but the mussels were quite good, as were all vegetarian dishes.
The dishes were made with a lighter touch, and the food itself was spiced well and in layers. I do not know how the evening meals will be, but I would definitely recommend anyone who enjoys Indian food giving it a shot.

I went there last Sunday for lunch buffet and it was very good! The variety on Sunday is greater than during the week so that may explain why the price was $14,95, in any case a great bargain! The menu prices in the evening are a little high for Indian food so that made the lunch buffet seem like even more of a bargain. Nice salads, good naan, all the dishes were fresh and nicely spiced and there was an excellent assortment of desserts. We will return!
