BLT Steak...what to get?

sarcasmsk Mar 31, 2009 09:46 PM

I recently came into the possesion of $100 to BLT Steak and was wondering what you all thought would be the best stuff on the menu to get. Mind you, I know that dinner will cost me much more than $100, but $100 off at any place and I'll check it out. Is there anything that I NEED to try?

    NY Strip.

Don't waste your money on the sides, or the Kobe selections.

Remember that you get the homemade chicken liver pate (YUMMY) and the popovers gratis.....that said, dont miss out on...

We had all of the apps and sides (i know ALOT of food, a friend was friends with the chef and it just kept coming!!)

The Braised short ribs - something that I would never think to order were - with out a doubt- the high point of an incredible meal...I dream of them.

Ceasar salad - one is enough for 2 or 3 people, VERY cheesy!
          Double cut bacon
Go for broke and get the seafood tower - it DELIVERS!!

          Hash Browns
          ONION RINGS!
          Creamy Spinch
          Hen of the woods

You can sub in vanilla ice cream for the banana ice cream ( i dont eat bananas)

Let me know what you think.

The chicken liver pate and popovers are DELICIOUS! Even better that they're free. Hamachi was also a very good app.

The porterhouse and short ribs were amazing. We used the leftovers from the short ribs to make an amazing pizza the next day.

Sides were ehhh. Good but nothing really stands out other than the Parmesan Gnocchi. They were light and fluffy. But really, it's all about the meat here, people.

If you can stand another bite after consuming all that meat, definitely order the Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse - Banana Ice Cream. It will not disappoint!

That's specific! Love it! I'll keep you posted. Should be going next week or the following.

Be prepared for the chicken liver on your popovers before dinner...it is sublime. I suggest

So I went last week and I had an incredible time! I ordered only off of the "blackboard menu" which was very nice. The octopus appetizer was incredible, while the agnolotti was ok. The sides were very nice, but not incredible, I just wasn't impressed with the selection. The biggest standout, surprisingly was the $38 hanger steak I had. Possibly one of the best steaks I've ever had! My friend had the $52 Delmonico steak and mine was MUCH better. Desserts were fine, but the service was perfect. I absolutely recommend this place. Thanks for your opinions.

We went to BLT on Saturday. The chicken liver and popovers are certainly standouts. The octopus and tuna tartare was also wonderful. Here was the problem: we ordered the porterhouse and it was so extremely oversalted that I literally had to have 4 glasses of water when I got home, and still woke up in the morning with the feeling like a had a saltlick for dinner the night before. The sides were quite unappealing, and we ordered a lot of them: potato gratin, french fries, stuffed mushrooms, creamed spinach, stuffed zucchini blossoms (these were quite good), and the english peas. I was quite unimpressed and disappineted with the meal.

how awful. that amount of salt in my food actually can hurt the top of my tongue. i am sad you had this experience because everytime i have been it has been great.

The only time I went there, I also found the sides to be uneventful. However, they had bottled their own root beer and made their own ice cream and were offering homemade root beer floats for dessert. Call them up and see if they're still doing that and on which nights they are. Definitely worth going there for that alone as the tastes were out of this world!
