Dinner for 8 next Friday near WS Park

Hi. We're inviting a job candidate for dinner next Friday, we always end up going to North Square and I'm tired of it. Is there a nice place around that would take reservations for next friday around 8:45-9?

Cru is right there - though it may be expensive. I've not been, but have read good things about it in the past.

There's Striphouse on 12th for a really good steak, Gotham Bar and Grill across the street and Il Cantinori.

Heh - when I clicked on your post I was going to recommend North Square. But if you're off of them, I'd suggest...

- Il Mulino if you're willing to spend (much) more money and don't want to go as far north as Union Square
- Village, on West 9th just east of 6th Ave., for perfectly okay French
- Jane, on Houston/Thompson, if you want somewhere as comfortable (i.e. booths, etc.)
- Knickerbocker, University/9th, for steak

I had a very blah dinner at Jane a few months ago with two friends. Blah and kind of pricey. I wouldn't recommend it. What is North Square's cuisine like?

Agreed...I'd be upset if a job prosepct took me to Jane for dinner.

I don't disagree - but it's comfortable, quiet and spacious, and the food isn't bad, just blah. It has kind of an interview dinner feel to it, if you ask me.
