Really good restaurant with a reasonable wine list in DC

My wife and I are going to be in DC visiting friends this weekend and we are looking for some great food with a reasonably priced wine list. We will be staying in Dupont Circle.

Try Siroc at 15th and K. Great food, especially the house made pastas, and a decent selection of wines in the lower price range. Agree with Dino on the wine, but food can be hit or miss. Sometimes I've had excellent meals there and other times I've been really disappointed, but that's mostly been associated with their seasonal multicourse fixed price offerings. I think they're starting a special passover dinner soon but I'd pass. i've been much more successful a la carte. Love their boar ragu over papardelle. Wasn't impressed with the roast piglet. Hmmm, neither quite Kosher are they? Appetizers tend to be quite good. Better make reservations soon for Friday or Saturday. Hanks Oyster Bar is near Dupont and they have good food and a nice wine selection, but a bit crowded for a relaxing dinner. Another good option for sharing lots of small plates and a decent and varied wine list is Cork on 14th. Not sure if either of these take reservations so call first.

Any particular kind of cuisine???

I'm Vietnamese and the best place to get Vietnamese food with a decent wine list is Present in Falls Church. All their wines are 89 and above, the manager is very enthusiastic when it comes to pairing Vietnamese food and Wine. Last time I was there the owner of S.A. Prum Winery actually had a meal there and suggested some good Germany wine.

Dino. short metro ride, very, very good and reasonable wine list, and good food.

Central actually has a lot of affordable bottles of wine, and very good food.

Dino is one possibility-- steps from the Cleveland Park metro (which is 2 stops north of Dupont Circle).

Second that. They have revamped their wine list and have some real gems by the glass, some with a bit of age. A Montalpuciano seems to remain vivid in my memory.

I 2nd Dino. Proof is good but I can't remember their wine list prices because I ordered by the glass there (and got a flight).

I would suggest Proof in Chinatown. Great food. Extensive wine list. As for prices of the wines- I could not tell you.

Based on my one visit, I can't quote you prices but the word "reasonable" did not occur to me -- unlike "expensive."

I checked their website and they have some $30 bottles which I think will work, but we have been known to get carried away.
