Dinner in/near Red Hook/Carroll Gardens?
I'm headed to Jalopy (315 Columbia, basically at the BQE) and am looking for a good, inexpensive to moderately priced dinner within a 10 (or I suppose 15) minute walk. No cuisine preferences. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hmmm, Red's Produce is looking like a top contender -- since we're hitting Jalopy at 9, so low key and close by sounds pretty good. Ferdinando's also sounds good.
Am storing some of these other ones for future reference. Would love to hear more!

- Petite Crevette on Hicks is a 5 minute walk and is BYOB. Old Brooklyn Wine is right nearby on Union. Simple seafood preparations.
- Ferdinando's on Union for Sicilian fare.
- Kevin's in Red Hook is about a 10 -15 minute walk. I've only been for brunch and it was quite good. I think it is BYOB and seafood focused.
- I've been to Red's Produce and it is fine for wine and tapas and only a block away from Jalopy.›1 Reply -

have never been there, but many people like red's produce just down the street. it's spanish tapas.
Otherwise, have also heard good reports about the falafel at Mazzat, further down Columbia (towards union st)
Plus, there's a new coal oven pizza place on Van Brunt--haven't tried that yet either.
I'm not a fan of the Good Fork (and it's far from Jalopy, more than a 15 minute walk i think)---but I realize I'm a minority on this board.
If you want more upscale, there's Alma on Columbia st--food's nothing special, but the view is nice. -
