Does anyone know the name of the Indian restaurant on the south side of Wellesley just east of Parliament. More importantly any comments about it?

    Are you thinking Rashnaa?

I live in the 'hood, but I've never been, so others will have to chime in on how it is. Though if you search this board you'll find some generally favourable comments.

I think that you probably are referring to Rashnaa, which is a Sri Lankan NOT Indian restaurant BTW. Generally good reviews and it's the only really nice sitdown SL restaurant
in town, the rest are more the hole-in-wall variety (this includes Hopper Hut, which I love).

We had a chowmeet there a couple of weeks ago organized by Estufarian ( our board's resident Indian food expert ). . Pretty good and authentic southern Indian cuisine. They seem to feature some interesting dishes that other people do not have?!

I really enjoyed the kothi roti and the string hopper there. I'm not familiar with Sri Lankan cuisine, but everything we ate that night had lovely layers of flavours, rather than just being spicy.

We tried this place out last night and thought it was excellent. We started with papadum and the veg.samosa. Both light, nongreasy and the samosa nicely spiced. Then on to butter chicken, veg. briyani and the Kotty Ratty. Everything was delicious but our favourite was the kooty ratty. With 2 kingfishers, tax and tip the bill came to $65.00 and there is easily enough for tonight's dinner. It is within 2 blocks of our house so I can see we will be regular visitors.
