In need of good apps or tapas place for last hurrah!

My good friend is geting married and her bridal party is throwing a "last hurrah" co-ed party for the bride's best girl and guy friends. I need a place to start the night out. I am thinking of a place that has great tapas or appetizers and serves them in a lounge setting (couches/small tables). It should have some music, but not too loud so as it drowns out the conversation.

Any/all suggestions are MOST welcomed!

In addition to Stanton Social, which I recommend first, there is Mercat (Bond St. btw. Lafayette & Bowery - 212-529-8600); would be a great place to start. Not as much of a lounge as Stanton Social, but the food is very good and the ambiance is hip. The nice part about Stanton, though, is that downstairs has very large booths that would work well for your group - avoid upstairs. It's a bar.

Thanks for the great responses. The number of people is going to be 10-15, and will take place on a Friday night in a couple of weeks.

Went to a private party of about 15 people in the "basement" of Mercat.. My buddy just told them what we wanted and they had a few people pouring wine..

        Was a fun night.

Where the music can drown out a jackhammer, let alone conversation.

It's hard to suggest a place without knowing what night, or how many people, but maybe 'inoteca?

Pipa in Chelsea. Las Ramblas in GV.

Las Ramblas has great food and Spanish wines but is tiny, so if you are more than 8 people, could be tough to get tables all together. Xunta can be fun and very inexpensive. You could do a bunch of small plates at Blue Ribbon Bakery - downstairs.
