Dim Sum in Arlington
I finally found an open, Dim Sum restaurant in the Mid-Cities, Arlington area. The FTW Star Telegram had an entry for ABC Seafood, but no reviews. Not wanting to drive all the way over to Greenville Ave, in Richardson for Dim Sum, thought I'd venture over to ABC.
The place is at the corner of Tx360 and E. Arkansas Lane, way back in the South East corner of a strip center with mainly ethic stores. The interior is, what I would call, a typically vast Chinese Restaurant with lot's of tables, some with the turntable in the middle for sharing dishes. On Sunday morning, there were about 4-5 carts being pushed around containing Dim Sum. I made the mistake of stocking up from the first cart and not waiting for the pastry cart with some great look shrimp balls, to come by. The carts descend on your table very quickly, so be prepared once you tell the door person you want Dim Sum...LOL.
Anyway, tried several kinds of dumplings and green tea. I passed on the chicken feet... :-) All very well prepared (don't ask what they were, because I don't know the names, I can just recognize them when I see them...I lived in Hong Kong for about a year and came to love Cantonese Dim Sum, but don't remember much of the language) and they all tasted great. Very filling. The "tally" sheet laid on the table...printed almost 100% in Chinese with a small stamp placed in the box to indicate that was the dish you had taken. Each entree had 3 pieces of Dim Sum, so don't over order. 5-6 entrees are more than enough for 2 hungry "round eyes".
There was only one other "round eye" in the place and she was married to an Asian. Lot's of full tables of happy people stuffing their faces with Dim Sum...all using chop sticks...I didn't see a fork in the place.
I will certainly be headed back to ABC when my Dim Sum quotient needs refilling. It was all very good, service was outstanding and prices not too bad considering how good it was. Here's the complete information:
