Chinatown: Yummy Noodles

New menu, new T-shirts. They have added about a dozen or more new dishes, including Swiss Chicken Wings (listed as one of nine new special appetizers on their Chinese menu) and Beef Chow Fun with Swiss Sauce. Bubble teas to arrive this summer. I opted for Dan Dan Noodles (one of their new dishes) and was disappointed. It really should have been called Spicy Bean Paste Noodle Soup with No Meat. Oh and new, higher prices as well. $5.15 (before tip) for the letdown.

  1. Been there twice and I've yet to have a really good meal there. They need to make more of an effort to make me want to go back.

Oh, I am not ready to give up on them just yet. I've had many a good noodle dish meal in the past at YN. For the best Dan Dan Noodles I'll just stick to Strange Taste instead.

    2. well its a cantonese bbq place, so ordering dan dan noodles (sichuan) probably isnt the way to go

fyi, i eat here somewhat regularly. get the bo zai fan (its a claypot casserole rice...classic cantonese), they make it the best in ctown (in fact the only other place that can get it right is cantoon garden). I personally like to get the pork and salty fish w/ an extra order of lop chong (la chang i.e. sausage) hit it with the dark soy sauce (not the regular one) and you're golden. It is one of the places in ctown that does a dish well on an absolute basis not just on a relative basis for manhattan ctown.

Duh! I eat there often enough and know what kind of place it is - I was curious as to the new dishes and recent changes.
