$15 Prix Fixe at Mini Market provides exceptional value!

My husband and I went to Mini Market (at College and Clinton) on Friday, and we both ordered the $15 prix fixe menu. It was fantastic. The meal comes with the daily soup, mango salad with chicken satay, veggie pad thai, and dessert. Four courses! For fifteen bucks!

The soup was a shimp and scallop wonton soup, and it was amazing. The broth was flavourful, full of cilantro and lemongrass, and the wonton itself was delicious. It was a small bowl of soup, but given the price, I can hardly complain. I just wanted more of it because it was so tasty. The mango salad was wonderful. The mango was perfectly ripe and the chicken satays were tender and grilled. Lots of cilantro, which I love. The pad thai was great — the portion was pretty big and the vegetables and tofu had been pan fried, which added a nice dimension of flavour. For dessert they brought us bananas that had been wrapped in pastry, cooked and sliced and served warm with ice cream and caramel sauce.

The service was attentive and friendly. Our server took our order immediately, kept our water glasses filled, and we felt very well taken care of. I can't think of a better way to spend $15!! I think the prix fixe is usually only available from Monday to Thursday, but our server didn't hesitate to get it for us when we asked, so perhaps it's always available, now.

I tried ordering the prix fixe last night and the server would not honour the special...and it was even on the blackboard.

Maybe it wasn't Monday to Thursday? Restaurant should make it clear if that's their policy in big bold letters though. On said blackboard.
