Where can I still get Maine Shrimp?

Besides Maine, of course.

I just bought some at Whole Foods last week, but now both the Newton and Fresh Pond WF stores tells me the season is over. However, both Maine.gov and www.seacoastonline.com tell me the season officially runs until May 29,2009. If they're still catching them, I want to keep eating them! Anybody seeing them in the last few days?

In case you feel like road tripping, I just saw this site today: http://www.portclydefreshcatch.com/

Thanks for posting that link, gourmandadventurer! Although I can't make it up there, it's great to read about anything that local fisheries are doing to keep in business.

That would be a worthwhile destination for me, were I to plan for a day or overnight trip! (as I remember from years past, it's gorgeous up there, too.)

My local Whole Foods (Framingham) told me they were gone for the season, too, about 2 weeks ago. I saw them at the Ashland Market Basket this weekend for $5.99/lb.

Saw 'em at Hannafords yesterday! Still at WF in Bedford.

it could be a whole foods store decision that they are done buying them for the season, as the supply becomes increasingly more erratic.

Bought some 2 hours ago at Market Basket in Reading, $5.99/lb. That seems high based on things I have read. Fried Maine Shrimp/French Fries/Cole Slaw is dinner tonight!
