Good Place to buy Saffron (spice)

(near downtown San Diego preferably)

I usually get it at Mona Lisa.

Anyone know other places?

Do they have it at Whole Foods?

Vons doesn't even know what it is, and that joke of a place World Market doesn't have it.

  1. The best deal on this I've seen is at Balboa International Market, but that's not near downtown. North Park Produce *might* have it. Middle-eastern markets definitely have the best price on this.

Which Middle-eastern markets do you recommend?

Balboa International Market, Parsian International Market

    2. At least in La Jolla I have seen it at WF, Ralphs, Albertson, Bristol Farms

Trader Joes carries it. I just bought some there but it's probably cheaper to buy it at a Middle eastern market.

        2. Costco, when they carry it.

          1. Last time I bought some was from Pete's Coffee. $10 for 2 grams of La Mancha. Don't know if they still have it.

If you're lazy like me, you can order from Penzey's online.
