Decent Breakfast: South Redondo?

Hi there,

I'm looking for a decent breakfast spot for this Saturday. Doesn't have to be fancy foodie, though recs for that would be appreciated for the future. I'd love some good and healthy and not insanely crowded, but mostly it comes down to not insanely crowded and decent given my timefram for this weekend. Basically, somewhere with a very short wait and ok food, like a diner of some sort. If there is any fantastic that might have a 15-20 minute wait, I could be up for that. I'm new to the area, so just trying to figure things out. Thanks!

      1. I'd go over to the GoodStuff off of PCH. Wait's within your time frame. The food is well cooked. Fresh tasting. They have healthy options. The other upside.. is that it's within walking distance of a Trader Joes.

I'd avoid the Redondo Beach Cafe... used to be good but the service took a nosedive, their fresh squeezed OJ (which was worth going to the restaurant just for a glass of the orange glory) also took a nosedive, and they're proud of a dish called montreal smoked meat (for some unknown reason). IThe MSM was disgusting and I was insulted by the owner/manager after I sent it back to the kitchen to order something else. I told my waitress that I just want to order something else and will pay for both dishes. The manager came out and took offense that I sent back the pile of gristly meat. It was as if I insulted his mother. I haven't been back since. Seriously fellow Chowhounders.... picture the worse corned beef you've ever had and then make it twice as rubbery with an off flavor profile and just a bit too much fat.

Redondo Beach Cafe is a no go in my book too, Dr. Bruin is spot on. A friend and I ordered omlettes at the counter some 40 minutes later Dennys was looking rather good..Sorry my link to the Cozy Cafe did not work I will try again here.. Yes here it is. think its a 3 link limit or so,,,

        2. The original Pancake House, go early to avoid the LONG wait. There food is delicious, massive omelettes, GREAT cornbeef hash, and of course the cakes.

I second the Original Pancake House, it's busy but worth the wait.

I am headed there on Sunday, How early do you think I should get there to avoid waiting more than 20 minutes. It'll probably be a party of 3 or 4.

in my experience, if you can get there before 9, or maybe 9:30AM, you shouldn't have too much of a wait. They really keep things moving there.

          2. Martha's 22nd St Grill has the best breakfast food in the area in my opinion, but the wait is often horrendous.

Closer to Redondo and not so crazy a wait is Jitters Cafe which has pretty good omelettes and baked goods.
