60th Birthday party - coming in from Long Island - $30-$40 pp. Any thoughts?

My friend wants to throw a bash for her mother-in-law. Probably on a Sunday afternoon this Spring.

So we need a private room that can hold 60-70 people in a place not too expensive. (I think her price is a little low, but...)

So Chowhounders. Any thoughts for a good Sunday lunch place?

Thanks!

Capsouto Freres is a perfect brunch spot for large groups.

The space is great for big groups, but my family had a big dinner there last year and the food was awful. Perhaps brunch is of a higher quality?

Not hearing the best reports for CF. But thanks for the input!

I think Campanile, which is normally closed on Sunday, might open for a private party for 70 people. The traditional Italian food is very good, and prices are moderate. Have your friend call and speak to Slavko, the owner. I'm sure he'll do his best to put together a package that will meet your friend's budget.
